Eva Worobiec FRPS: ‘Abandoned America’
August 6-7:45 pm - 10:00 pm
A Fellow of the RPS since 1994, Eva initially enjoyed entering club competitions, but soon realised that there was more satisfaction to be gained from working in themes and projects, an approach which has led not only to the production of individual bodies of work but also to collaborations and exhibitions with other photographers.
Most notably, years spent photographing abandoned rural communities on the American High Plains with husband Tony culminated in a highly-regarded book entitled “Ghosts in the Wilderness”, whilst a further joint project on the fast-disappearing neon-lit motels and diners led to the publication: “Icons of the Highway” and an exhibition at the prestigious Fox Talbot gallery.
In this lecture, Eva will show images which document both the haunting beauty and pathos of abandoned communities, as well as the remnants of the “American Dream” along old Route 66.
Please note events may be altered at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control. Any changes will be notified on the Website, Facebook and Notice Board as soon as possible.
