A selection of personal favourite photographs taken by the author

I am primarily a pen and ink artist drawing mainly cartoons and caricatures.  I left school in 1988 with delusions of becoming an artist.  I went to Art College in Basingstoke for 4 weeks but left after deciding I was fed up being told how to draw their way and not mine, and so I become a litho-printer instead. I’ve had various non art based jobs since then.

I purchased my first computer around the time of Windows 95 and began 17 years of digital image and photo manipulation. After learning the basics of Photoshop and other PC software, I found I became ‘bored’ with altering stock and other peoples images.  So two years ago I brought a cheap digital camera and started to experiment with my own images.  I now had the photography bug!

After saving hard, and selling a collection of vintage photo equipment, I purchased a Canon 550D plus extras.  I am hoping my camera skills will improve with the help and encouragement from SCC members and so finally be able to produce the images I want.

I mainly concentrate on abstract art in my photographic work but have been known to wonder off in a tangent from time to time and actually produce something considered more normal.

Currently I am a volunteer at a photo mini lab and bespoke frame maker which helps to keep print and framing costs down.
