I had a camera for many years, but to my regret found little time to do anything other than take record shots in a job that kept me travelling in some isolated parts of the world. When I retired photography was at the top of my list of ‘now I have time’ priorities – and travelling, now for my own enjoyment, is still important. I joined the SCC – the first time in my life I have ever joined a club. And what a good decision………

In two years with SCC I accidentally became the Club Secretary, learned a bit about photography, changed to digital, learned a few important things about Photoshop and learned a lot from being amongst, and listening to, some great photographers who are members of, or visiting speakers to, the Club. I get a lot of pleasure from both photographic exhibitions and the work of my fellow club members.

There is something very satisfying about taking a photograph and then working on it all the way through to the end product – and knowing you are working on something where you will never stop learning is equally satisfying.

I’m not sure that I have a preference for any particular style – I enjoy subjects with subtle colour, texture and shape, but I enjoy also ‘hit you in the eye’ colours and portraits of people getting on with their daily life. This portfolio covers these interests and travel in various countries – only one is taken in Britain and that, perhaps oddly, is the ‘big cat’ taken at an animal sanctuary.
