Take lots of photographs because they change so quickly”
(June Cawley, September 1998)

From this simple remark, following the birth of my eldest daughter, has grown a passion for photography both old and new. I am fascinated by the work of Brassai, Man Ray, and Lee Miller especially her work as a photo-journalist, David Hockney (as an artist, designer, and photographer) and Martin Parr to name but a few.

In the autumn of 2004 I reached a photographic crossroads having successfully completed my ‘A’ level (and with it came my LRPS). By now the digital revolution was in overdrive but my initial efforts had left me disillusioned and very demoralised. Help was at hand and over the winter months its mysteries were unravelled, its potential unleashed and I have never looked back. I’m still on a steep learning curve, especially with monochrome, which I love, but, as my skills and technique continue to improve, I often find myself returning to images previously discarded as lost causes with surprising results.

My own style is still evolving. I feel I am very much a “Jack of all Trades” - ideas come and go sometimes with mixed success; but when it does all come together the thrill and sense of achievement is fantastic.
