Welcome New Members

New members are welcome throughout the year and you can find joining information elsewhere on this site.

If you are a new member you may find things a little daunting? Especially if you are also new to photography. So make a point of chatting to other members, some of whom may also be new to the club and will also be finding their way round. I hope our more experienced members will also make a point of introducing themselves.

Education

If you have joined our club because you think we will 'teach' you photography, then you may be disappointed. If you are looking for a formal photography structure then perhaps a college may be more to your liking. Given we are not necessarily an 'education establishment' we may not always provide you with instructions..... but I think as you get to know us you will be provided with lots of support and guidance and maybe some teaching workshops. The onus is very much on you to learn from getting involved with like minded individuals.

Programme

However our varied programme will give you a great rounded photography experience. From lectures and talks, to training workshops and tutorials. The trick is to get involved in all aspects and attend as often as you can and find ways of supporting us with your own experiences and expertise.

Your photographic ability

As you sit and watch some of our competitions you may feel your ability is nowhere as good - we get this a lot! Do not be intimidated by others work, instead be inspired and have a go. We all have to start somewhere.

Introduction to Photography workshops

We do recognise the need from time to time to help beginners with basic help on camera controls and rules of composition etc. to which end please ask for when we plan to run the next workshop. In the meantime don't be afraid to ask. If you are a Canon owner or a Nikon owner or a Sony, Olympus or any other manufacturer - just ask. Someone will have an answer!
